How to Use the Amazon FBA Profit Calculator
Using our free tool is simple and takes less than a minute. Just enter a few key details about your product and the calculator will show you your estimated profit, ROI, and margin, based on the latest 2025 Amazon FBA fees.
Start by typing in your product’s selling price and cost of goods sold. Then fill in its size, weight, and select the appropriate product category. If you’re not sure which category to choose, pick the one that most closely matches what you plan to sell. You can also click “Advanced Costs” to enter optional freight and packing costs.
Once you’ve entered your info, click “Calculate.” The results will appear instantly, including:
-
Estimated profit per unit
-
ROI (Return on Investment)
-
Profit margin
-
A breakdown of the estimated Amazon fees deducted
You can also use the price adjustment slider to quickly test how small price changes will impact your profit.
Note: This calculator is designed to give you a strong starting estimate, but it doesn’t factor in things like advertising spend, returns, or additional FBA costs like the Aged Inventory Surcharge or Inbound Placement Fees. Always use your final numbers to make accurate decisions before ordering inventory or launching a product.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if a product will be profitable with Amazon FBA?
To evaluate profitability, start by estimating all your direct costs—product cost, shipping to Amazon, and Amazon’s FBA fees. Subtract those from your target selling price to find your net profit per unit.
Then use these two formulas:
-
Profit Margin (%) = (Profit ÷ Selling Price) × 100
-
ROI (%) = (Profit ÷ Product Cost) × 100
These numbers will help you compare products apples-to-apples and decide what’s worth pursuing. If you’re just starting out, focus on products with enough margin to absorb ad costs and price drops. You can use the calculator on this page to instantly test your numbers before placing an order.
What is a good profit margin for Amazon FBA private-label products?
A healthy profit margin for private-label products on Amazon is 30–40%. This range gives you the flexibility to handle rising Amazon fees, discounts, and PPC costs without sacrificing your earnings. I recommend avoiding products with margins below 25%, especially if you’re still building your brand or operating with low volume.
What’s a good ROI to aim for on Amazon FBA products?
A strong ROI (Return on Investment) for Amazon FBA is between 80% and 100%. This means for every $1 you invest in product cost, you should earn back $1.80 to $2.00. I don’t list anything that comes in under 50% ROI, unless it’s part of a proven high-volume strategy or has exceptional competitive advantages.
How do Low-Price ($10 and under) FBA fees differ from standard fees?
Amazon offers a special Low-Price FBA rate for products priced at $10 or less, which reduces your fulfillment fees by approximately $0.77 per unit compared to the standard rates. This lower fee applies to all standard-size categories and is meant to encourage more affordable product listings. However, once your price goes above $10, standard FBA fees automatically apply—even by a penny.
Which Amazon FBA fees are included in this calculator?
This calculator includes the three core FBA fees that impact your profitability:
-
Fulfillment Fees (based on size and weight)
-
Referral Fees (Amazon’s selling commission)
-
Monthly Storage Fees (standard and peak season rates)
Advanced FBA fees like inbound placement fees, aged inventory surcharges, and returns processing are not factored in. I intentionally kept it focused on the major fees so new sellers can quickly see whether a product is worth pursuing.
